Carl Arden Craig, 80, of Fort Mill, SC, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He was born in Albion, PA on August 20, 1944, to the late Richard Craig and the late Alta May Craig. Carl was raised in South Bend, Indiana before joining the Marine Corps at the age of 19. He served six years in the Corps and achieved the rank of Corporal. While serving, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Carl had an unwavering love for the military.
He also had a love for animals from the time he was a young boy. During his life, he rescued everything from dogs to turtles to a bird. Raised riding horses, he always enjoyed being around them and frequently watched them at the Greenway during retirement.
Carl started his career as an electrician at Western Electric in 1972, continuing with them as they merged with AT&T. Throughout his profession, he held many positions where he met various challenges and enjoyed meeting new people. After 32 years of a successful and fulfilling career at AT&T, he retired in 2004.
Carl spent his life helping others in need, from volunteering at church, ministering at multiple prisons, and mentoring others along the way. He never met a stranger and often shared the story of God's love and grace. Carl volunteered as a chaplain and assisted the United Service Organization (USO) for many years.
Some of Carl's favorite things were studying the Bible, watching cowboy shows, and traveling throughout the United States with the love of his life, Colleen, and their pup Sadie, who followed him everywhere he went.
Carl is survived by his wife of 30 years, Colleen McGrath Craig, daughters Pamela Johnson (Scott) and Sonya Bias (Brian), grandchildren Sarah Bias of Raleigh, NC, Darren (Amber) Bias and Jeremy Bias of Roanoke, VA, Elliott Johnson and Emily Johnson of Marietta, GA, one great grandson, Aiden of Raleigh, NC, one sister Lois Craig Johnson (Karl) of Duluth, MN, two brothers David Craig (Nancy) of Madison, WI and Jim Craig (Theresa) of Salt Lake City, UT and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
