Eugene Cooley Obituary

Eugene (Dean) Cooley passed away December 21, 2016 at his home in Clermont, Florida with his wife of 53 years, Virginia at his side. Dean was born in June, 1938 to the late Herbert and Julia Cooley in Michigan. He graduated from Gobles High School in Gobles, Michigan. Dean was in the Navy Reserves for six years, two of which he spent on active duty aboard a Destroyer Escort, the USS Silverstein. He retired from General Motors where he was a Journeyman Millwright for over 27 years. He and his wife moved to Florida in 2000 to be near their daughters and grandchildren. Dean loved going to Disney World, watching Nascar, taking care of his cars, and spending time with his family. He also loved meeting and talking to new people. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, daughters Pam Canavan (Clermont, FL) and Terri (Russ) Jennings (Helena, Montana), and three grandchildren; James, Drake, and Jessica (Clermont, Florida). He is also survived by his two brothers; Jim (Carol) Cooley (Skanee, Michigan) and Herbert Jr. (Diane) Cooley (Portage, Michigan). The family asks in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dean's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the American Cancer Society, or your local hospice.
