Glen Michael Perkins, 62 years old of Clermont ,Florida passed away Friday February 5th at his home. Glen leaves behind his wife Katherine Sue Perkins,his two sons Glen Daniel Perkins and Michael Stuart Perkins, his five stepchildren,Kimberly Costley,Leslie Buck, Matthew Koontz, Phillip Koontz and Adam Koontz along with 16 grandchildren. Glen also leaves behind two sisters, Shelby Gorman and Rhonda Dameron, and three brothers Gary, Bryan and Randal Perkins and eight nieces and nephews.
Glen was a musician,songwriter, salesman and entrepreneur who carried his family and his music in his heart. After graduating from Poplar Bluff High School in 1971,he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music becoming a professional singer/songwriter with Warner-Chapell Music. He wrote, produced and recorded hundreds of songs throughout the 70's and 80's. However it wasn't until 2015 that his old master tapes were recovered and transferred to digital format. After more than three decades, Glen Michael Perkins debut album "Borderline", was finally released worldwide on November 24 th 2015.
He was a tall handsome man with a deep booming voice and a unique laugh that seemed to fit right in with his sharp, witty sense of humor. He was a great salesman, known for his uncanny ability to make friends and build lasting relationships. He started his own business called Hand Picked Guitars in Springfield, Missouri which he ran for 15 years until retiring and moving to Florida with his beloved wife Kathy. Glen was the quintessential "people-person" who even had his own fan- page on Facebook and was loved by all who knew him.
Glen's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at the First Christian Church, 1601 North Main Street in Poplar Bluff Missouri at 2.00 pm CST.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
