Kathleen “Kittie” Jones Kingston Varian
September 18, 1928 – March 26, 2026
Kathleen “Kittie” Jones Kingston-Varian, age 97, went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2026, in Clermont, Florida. A devoted servant of Jesus and a pillar of her family, she leaves behind a legacy defined by faith, prayer, and ministry. Born on September 18, 1928, in Dry Fork, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie Stowe Jones. In 1948, she wed the Rev. Bill Kingston. For forty years, she served faithfully alongside him as a pastor’s wife until his passing in 1988. In 1998, she married Leo “Lee” Varian. Together, they shared a deep commitment to the Gideons International, a ministry she continued to support after his passing in 2001. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Bill Kingston and Leo “Lee” Varian; son, Brent Kingston and daughter, Dawn Sommerville; siblings Ralph Jones, Rev. Billy Jones, Mary Jones-Wright, Frank Jones, Dolly Jones-Keesee, Hanibal Jones, and Sue Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Kingston Estes (Donnie) of Eden, NC; daughter- in-law Glory Kingston (late Brent Kingston); grandchildren, Becky Turner (Clay), Rodney Elliott, Rob Evans (Michelle), Jef Evans (Dane), Brad Kingston, Lindsey Lopez (Eric), Ryan Sommerville (Adrian); and great-grandchildren, Christopher Turner (Samantha), Sierra Finley (Christopher), Corey Evans (Chandler), and Tyler Evans (Kelly), Isaac Lopez, Eli Lopez, Noah Lopez. She is also survived by her siblings Rev. LeRoy Jones (Lois) of Chatham, VA, Charles Jones (Sis) of Chatham, VA, Yvonne Jones-Byrd (Wayne) of Asheboro, NC, and Posey Jones of Blacksburg, VA. Services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Open Door Baptist Church in Clermont, Florida. Viewing from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM and Service beginning at 2:00 PM. A private family burial at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery will take place the following day
